Contact
Lenses
Dr.
Goffman began fitting contact lenses as a resident at
Baylor College of Medicine in the seventies. At that
time PMMA was the only material used to make contacts-socalled
"hard contacts". Dr. Goffman was selected by
Bausch & Lomb, a pioneer in soft lens technology, as
a member of their medical advisory panel. He was then
chosen by Bausch & Lomb to lecture about soft
contact lenses throughout Japan.
In
the 80's gas permeable material helped eliminate
emergency calls for painful corneal abrasions from
wearing a hard lens too long.
Dr.
Goffman fits the contacts himself choosing from a wide
range of materials and formats from daily disposable to
one month extended wear. In addition soft astigmatism
lenses have advanced from their introduction in 1980.
Today they are less expensive, comfortable and optically
very sharp.
Satisfied
patients often wear contacts for many years or they
chose to undergo LASER VISION CORRECTION to restore
useful vision without the use of artificial materials. |
